Costs associated with the creation of  a town map can be spread out between businesses participating in a Friendly Maps Business Directory,  or a pre-existing Business Improvement Zone or Traders' Association.  The Bridport Friendly Map (2008)  includes approximately a hundred and fifty businesses and has sixteen advertising spaces on the reverse of the Bridport Friendly Map. 

Friendly Maps list and locate key businesses and landmark features and are designed to be distributed free to residents, tourists, vistors or guests in order to help them get the most from the town or event, and boost trade and community spirit.
